The opening game of the tournament was incredibly engaging thanks to a sublime display from West Ham's Payet who got himself a goal and assist, most notably a curling peach of a strike into the top corner in the dying minutes to win the game.
Match 2: France 2 Albania 0
MOTM: Evra
France were rarely tested by a defensive minded Albania side, however they left it late at the other end, a substitute appearance from Griezmann saw him score a header to put France ahead in the 89th minute. Payet put in another impressive display reflected best by a lovely finish to seal the game.
Match 3: France 0 Switzerland 0
MOTM: Pogba
At this point France knew they would top the group so long as they weren't beaten by Xhaka and Shaqiri's Switzerland. Excluding a thunderous Pogba shot and Payet volley which both hit the crossbar to Deschamp's despair, it was a dire 'nothing' match.
Match 4: France 2 Republic of Ireland 1
MOTM: Griezmann
France persevered and showed their true character and grit to comeback from a first minute Republic of Ireland lead thanks to Robbie Brady from the spot. Two Antoine Griezmann goals: another accurate header before a clinical finish left the Republic of Ireland devastated. By this point Griezmann had netted three times in the tournament, nonetheless more goals were to come ...

Rivaling Portugal vs Hungary as the most entertaining match from a neutral perspective, the fixture featured 7 goals in addition to some wonderful yet now overused Icelandic celebrations. Giroud put in a perfect target man's performance with 2 goals and an assist to take the burden of French criticism off his back.
Match 6: France 2 Germany 0
MOTM: Griezmann
The match up with Germany was expected to be France's biggest test however after a nervy opening they went on to win fairly comfortably thanks to a second brace from the Atletico Madrid forward. France operated in a 4-2-3-1 and are likely to stay the same for the final, with the likes of Payet and Sissoko playing out wide.
