The Forgotten ones

With the Premier League set to start on the 13th of August we take a look at a handful of players who could see their ways in the team sheet despite being forgotten from all existence whether it be down to severe injuries or a loan away.

Danny Ings - Liverpool FC

The former Burnley man endured a difficult first season at Merseyside thanks to an anterior cruciate injury in training in October 2015, he returned on the last game of the season to total 6 league appearances thus far for Liverpool in which he has marked twice. Now that Ings is back in contention he is set to be Liverpool's reserve striker behind Sturridge alongside Origi, unfortunately for the 24 year old Klopp is most likely to play a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 with a sole striker. All the same Ings has impressed in pre season with 2 goals to his name due to his clinical finishing and endless running. Given Sturridge's injury history Liverpool fan's shouldn't threat given Ings' ability in front of goal, both in the air and on the ground.

Likelihood of starting: 1/5

Mario Balotelli - Liverpool FC

The £16 million move for Balotelli instigated by Brendan Rodgers was always unlikely to be a success given the Italian's history of on and off the pitch antics. In his past 36 games for Liverpool and AC Milan the 25 year old has scored a measly 2 goals, it's unsurprising that he's so far down the Liverpool forward pecking order. Klopp has told the Italian to find a new club and for the time being the striker is training with the U21 team. Unfortunately for Liverpool they're not to make a profit off the Italian especially after Besiktas confirmed they had no intent of purchasing the wildcard.

Likelihood of starting: 0/5

Jay Rodriguez - Southampton FC

Like Ings Rodriguez came to the Premier League from Burnley in 2012 for a fee of £7 million. The now 26 enjoyed a phenomenal second season with the club, netting 17 times in just over 30 appearances, on top of this the forward earned himself an England call up in November 2013 ahead of the World Cup. Unfortunately for the Saints striker an anterior cruciate ligament injury against Manchester City in 2013/14 saw him out of first team contention for over a year. His return in the 2015/16 season was far from emphatic, Rodriguez made just 8 league appearances and could not boast any goals to his name he was outperformed by the attacking likes of Graziano Pelle, Shane Long, Sadio Mane and Dusan Tadic. Rodriguez will be trying his hardest to earn a starting place perhaps on a wide right position with Long central and Tadic on the opposite flank next season, especially with so many Southampton players moving to new destinations.

Likelihood of starting: 3/5

Loic Remy - Chelsea FC

The Frenchman was QPR's shining light in their otherwise dismal season and went on to Newcastle on loan where he put in a majestic display with 14 goals in 26 games. Such promising goal to game records saw the now 29 year old end up at former title winners Chelsea. Whilst Remy has not been a flop at Chelsea he has not been given a big enough chance, all too often the Frenchman comes off the bench when Chelsea need a goal most. The former Lyon man has scored 8 goals in a total of 32 appearances in a Blues shirt, perhaps under Conte he will given the opportunity to start in a 2 striker formation with Batushyuai or Costa. Then again with Lukaku rumored to be of interest to Chelsea Remy's chances of first team football look drastically low, so much that West Ham are thought to be interested in the forward's services.

Likelihood of starting: 1/5

Callum Wilson - Bournemouth FC

The Englishman was such a promising prospect at the start of last season, not only for Cherries fans but also Fantasy football users after striking a total of 5 goals in as few as 7 games, propelling him to the heights of the top scorer leaderboard. Perhaps Wilson's injury (one that cut his season to an end) was fortunate for the Bournemouth, perhaps if he continued his free scoring form a transfer away from the south coast may have been on the cards. Bournemouth are so sure of the 24 year old's services that he was even pictured in their latest dazzling kit, the Cherries will be hoping their 2016/17 season will be just as startling.

Likelihood of starting: 5/5
