Top 5 Midfielders Euro 2016

Impossible vision. Perfect weight of pass. Endurance.
These qualities are what make a central midfielder stand out, who has showcased these attributes in France this summer?

5) Kevin De Bruyne: Belgium

Many people will be surprised to see De Bruyne on this list, especially ahead of the likes of Ozil, however the Man City man was ranked as Belgium's top player this tournament. De Bruyne recorded 3 assists yet no goals to his name, he was incredibly impressive against Hungary and the Republic of Ireland where he effectively ran the show since he made on average almost 50 passes a game. He was incredibly unfortunate not to see a free kick hit the back of the net but instead Hungarian keeper Kiraly tipped it onto the bar. Despite some glimpses of undeniable brilliance and quality many will feel De Bruyne still had more to offer and was lacking the clinical form he possesses for City. In fact De Bruyne had 21 shots in total yet failed to get his name on the score sheet!

4) Paul Pogba: France

The man valued at £100 million has quietly gone about his business in proving his astonishing value this tournament. Pogba's single goal undermines his overall contributions this summer, Pogba has put in some hardworking performances to drag France to the final showing flair and trickery along the way. From a towering header vs Iceland to a dazzling skill show against Mustafi Pogba has showcased his range of abilities on one of the biggest stage of all which has got Manchester United fans watering at the mouth. However Pogba has certainly got more to display, expect an explosive performance from the 24 year old come Sunday evening vs Portugal.

3) Andres Iniesta: Spain

The Barcelona servant has become a forgotten man this campaign after Spain's early exit. Iniesta had put in several MOTM performances and averaged an incredible 90 passes per game. Iniesta swirling cross for a thumping Pique header was his sole assist however the 31 year old was also involved in build up play against Turkey and Croatia. Iniesta was unfortunate not to be able to display his perfect passing and tidy play further after Croatia knocked the current Euro champions out.

2) Toni Kroos: Germany

93% pass accuracy. 107 passes a game. 1 assist.
Kroos, the Xavi of 2016, has undoubtedly run the show for the World Champions, he is capable of spraying the ball from deep or picking it up further afield and shooting from range. Kroos has gained the applause of many this tournament and by consequence Man City are thought to be readying a £60 million bid. Kroos would have racked up more assists had it not been for the misfiring Gotze and Muller up front for Germany who failed to score in 10 combined appearances to Low's frustration.

1) Aaron Ramsey: Arsenal

Ramsey has been in inspired form for Wales and even pipped Bale to the post of their most influential player. Whilst Bale has swept in long range free kicks the Arsenal man has been driving with the ball at the shaky defences of England, Belgium and Russia most profoundly. Ramsey registered 4 assists in total in addition to an exceptional chip vs Russia to assure himself of a place in Team of the Tournament. The 2-0 Welsh defeat to Portugal was lacking the spark and persistence of a suspended Ramsey, who picked up an unfortunate but indisputable booking against Belgium in an otherwise MOTM display.

Notable Mentions:

Renato Sanches: Portugal
Joao Mario: Portugal
Mesut Ozil: Germany
Eric Dier: England
Marek Hamsik: Slovakia
Luka Modric: Croatia
Ivan Perisic: Croatia
